	MOVING CHECKLIST
	30 -45 DAYS PRIOR TO THE MOVE
____	Order Packing supplies and start packing, clearly labeling boxes, contents, and room destination.
____	Make necessary travel arrangements i.e. car rentals, hotel and airline reservations.
____	Notify Post office - Both current and new.
____	Notify doctors, dentists, and other service providers.
____	Sort and discard unwanted items. Plan a yard sale or contact charitable organiztions for pick up.
____	Confirm elevator, loading dock and parking reservations at both ends.
	14 -21 DAYS PRIOR TO THE MOVE
____	Make arrangements for disassembly of difficult furniture ( e.g. pool tables, swing sets )
____	Remove permanently affixed items (e.g. ceiling fans, drapes, light fixtures )
____	Notify motor vehicle registry and other government agencies ( e.g. Health Card )
____	Notify oil and/or gas company.
____	Notify telephone company.
____	Notify electric company.
____	Notify alarm company.
____	Notify cable company.
____	Notify water company.
____	Notify other service providers ( e.g. lawn care )
	7 DAYS PRIOR TO THE MOVE
.____	Confirm date and tiem with moving company.
____	Provide moving company with new telephone number.
____	Remove fragile and loose items from drawers
____	Notify gas company to schedule dissconnection of gas dryer and stove.
____	Complete high value inventory form and choose appropirate insurance options.
	ONE DAY PRIOR TO THE MOVE
____	Consolidate fragile boxes in one area.
____	Separate items not intended for transport by movers.
____	Confirm telephones are working in both locations.
____	Refrigerators and freezers must be defrosted, drained, washed and thoroughly dried.
____	Drain water bed.
____	Drain gas from lawn mowers and snow blowers.
.____	Clear walkways and driveway for improved access during inclement weather
____	Isolate checkbook, keys, passports, plane tickets, cash and credit cards.
